About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Entering by plane departing by train

Hi everyone,

This summer l,m planning to do the Transmongolia Express, all independent. So l will fly to Beijing and take the train to Ulaanbaatar. I want to apply for the 144 our visa free transit and my question is, if it's necessary to show the fysical train ticket or just a comfirmation? A friend of mine will book the ticket for me in China, but the Chinese bureacracy demands that l have to pick up the ticket personaly. This means that l won't have a ticket when l arrive. If you can give me a website of an agency that arranges that, it will be also helpfull.

Thank you in advance and in awaiting for your respons

Kind regards

Mauro, unfortunately, by taking the Transmongolian train, you immediately lose your eligibility for 144 hour visa free transit. The only eligible option for 144 hour visa free transit, when we talk about exiting mainland China by train, is a conventional train from Beijing West to Hung Hom in Hong Kong. All other trains, to Mongolia or North Korea are not eligible for this visa free transit policy.

If you insist on taking the Transmongolian train, you will have to obtain a Chinese tourist (L) visa in advance or alternatively fly from Beijing to Ulaanbaatar.
