About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Can the flight back be to your home country?

I am a UK citizen. I am flying to the Philippines, then back via Guangdong, so my inward ticket to China is from the Philippines, and the outward ticket is to the UK. Can I use the 72 hour waiver system to stay for a couple of nights in Guangdong?

Of course, you are allowed to do that. Your itinerary, under the assumption that you have mentioned all your stops, is definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit within the entire Guangdong province.

By the way, 72 hour visa free transit in Guangdong province has been replaced by 144 hour visa free transit in May of this year.
