About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travelling to Japan via Shanghai

Hi,

I'm travelling from London to Osaka (Japan) via Shanghai.
I believe I'm eligible for the 144-hour visa exemption; but worried I won't have enough time in between flights to cover the application process?
My stopover on my way to Japan is only 2 hours at Shanghai!
I've also tried applying online, but as I'm not staying at a Shanghai address, cannot fill out the online application form. No idea what to do, so any guidance is helpful!

Thanks!

You don't need a visa. And you don't need to apply for anything online. 144 hours does not apply, because you are just connecting for less than 24 hours. If you are travelling on a single ticket then you won't have any problem, because you will be protected if you don't make your connection, nothing to worry about. If you have two separate tickets then that is much more risky, especially if you have checked bags.
