About:Visa on Arrival

Going to Shenzhen as Canadian

Thank you so much for all the good information on this page. I am a Canadian that travel to Cambodia and plan to leave Cambodia to SZ for 4 days. I am wondering if I can fly direct from Cambodia to SZ on a Canadian passport and get the 5 days visa. I read many articles online and some said that I can only apply for the 5 days visa if I go to Hong Kong first then transit to Shenzhen. Please help clarify this point for me.

Richard, it is true that you will have to go through Hong Kong or Macau to Shenzhen to obtain a Shenzhen VOA. You should, unfortunately, forget about obtaining a Shenzhen VOA if arriving by plane.

Anyway, if you wish, you can do a trip:

Cambodia - Shenzhen - Hong Kong

Using 144 hour visa free transit.

After you arrive in Hong Kong, you can return back to Shenzhen (if you have a flight from there) on 5 day Shenzhen VOA.

If you want, I can explain it more thoroughly or in the meantime, you can read my explanation for this type of visa free transit via Shenzhen in my answer to Daisy post in the bottom of this website.
