About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Canadian passport holders travel to Mainland China via Hong Kong land border control points

I hold a Canadian Passport. I plan to fly from Toronto to Hong Kong and then to Mainland China via Hong Kong border control points. I will stay in Mainland China for 7 days. May I know if we need to apply Visa?

Further to my previous message, may I take a ferry from Hong Kong to Zhuhai and return to Hong Kong via the same port using my Canadian passport?
Thanks.

Judy, you can use every single available border crossing point between Hong Kong and mainland China and you can also take a ferry from Hong Kong to Zhuhai and back. You do not have limits in this regard at all since Canadian citizens can enter, explore, stay in mainland China for up to 30 days - visa free. Also, there are no restrictions on the border crossings they can use. For you a visit to mainland China is quite similar to the travel to UK for example. Just to repeat once again, you do not need a visa at all and you are not a subject of 24/240 hour visa free transit rules. Have a nice visit to China.
