About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Canadian Passport holder

I initially planned a trip to China from Canada for April 4 with awareness regarding their TWOV policy so I had booked an onward flight to Seoul to be eligible but now I'm finding out that changes were made to Canada's entry requirements in February. Since I can now enter visa-free for 30 days, does that mean I no longer need to proceed to the dedicated 24/240h Transit without visa/ Temporary entry permit application lane upon arrival? Just want to hear it from someone with expertise, Borut, for peace of mind on the matter. Thanks!

Norman, staring from February 17th, Canadian citizens can enter, stay, explore mainland China absolutely visa free for up to 30 days. Consequently they are no more subject of 24/240 visa free transit and temporary entry permits/rules. Basically, your entry/exit to/from China is more or less the same as if you were traveling to UK. You will fill out arrival card upon landing or before your departure through the official website of National Immigration Administration and upon landing you will perform fingerprinting at automatic fingerprinting machine. No more 24/240 hour visa free counter and temporary entry permits for Canadians. Have a nice visit to China.
