About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa needed or not?

I have a Mexican passport, in three weeks I am traveling to Bangkok with an stopover in Guangzhou of 2:20 hours. And another flight from Vietnam to Mexico with an stopover in Guangzhou of 3 hours (this flight is 2 weeks later). So my doubt is, do I have to tramit a Chinese visa, and which kind o visa?

Thank you so much for your answer Zupan, regarding the Canadian visa, I already have it.

By the other hand, I just want to be 100% sure that there will be no problem when boarding my flight to Guangzhou in both ways. So If you can help me with additional information about the 24 hour visa free transit, and how do I need to apply for and when (anticipated to my flight or not), basically how it works.

If Guangzhou is your only stop within mainland China and you are flying on a single (through) ticket that I assume you do because your layovers are really short, you will be perfectly covered by 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa.

Anyway, Diana, I advise you to present your entire itinerary, i.e. the airport that will precede Guangzhou on your route to Bangkok and also the airport that will follow after you leave Guangzhou when traveling from Vietnam. Like this, you would be able to get even better confirmation about your question.

I assume that you will use CZ378 to reach Guangzhou from Mexico and CZ377 to reach Mexico after your visit to Vietnam. If I'm right, you will have to take care about the fact that this flight has an intermediate landing in Vancouver both ways, so you have to be prepared for Canadian formalities that are required from Mexican citizens.

Trust me, this with China is an easier part than that with Canada.

You will print out your flight ticket and have those printouts with you as proof of your transit. Also, you will declare at check-in in both Ciudad de México and in Vancouver that you will travel to Thailand via Guangzhou, China, using 24 hour visa free transit. This is all of the formalities and documents that you will have to do along with your valid passport.

Upon arrival in Guangzhou you will just perform, but very quickly, all the formalities and wait for your flight for Thailand at the gate. There is no much you have to do in Guangzhou, but you will cross the security, some form of simplified immigration where they are checking the validity of documents and visas for your next destination. You already have Thailand visa, but this is not necessary since Mexican citizens receive 15 day Thai visa on arrival. Basically, this is all you will do in Guangzhou.

Also, on your return, you will declare similar at check-in in Vietnam where you will declare that you will travel to Ciudad de México via Guangzhou, China, using 24 hour visa free transit. Again, you will present your flight tickets and after that you will be allowed to board the plane. Upon arrival in Guangzhou, you will cross the same procedure as for your first flight and you will be allowed to board the plane for Vancouver/Ciudad de México. As you can see, there is nothing too much complicated :)
