About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa, documents. Two stops in China

Hi. I’m travelling from London to Kathmandu. Have two stops in China. On Monday 11th I will arrive to Shanghai (16:35). Later I have a flight from Shanghai to Kunming (departure 21:20, arrival 12th 0:55). And on Tuesday 12th I have a flight from Kunming to Kathmandu (13:25). Do I have to apply for 24 h visa or just have to say at Heathrow that I will be travelling without visa? And what to say when I arrive to Shanghai? Do I have to write down some documents or just have to say that this is my transit and I will be in China less than 24 hours?

First and the most important is that you are definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa.

You will print out your flight tickets and have those printouts with you as a proof for your transit. Also, you will declare at check-in in Heathrow that you will travel to Kathmandu, Nepal visa China using 24 hour visa free transit. You will present your tickets and after a short time, you will be allowed to board the plane for Shanghai.

Upon your arrival in Shanghai, you will approach 24 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit because your next flight will be a domestic one. You will be granted a permit and you will wait for your flight to Kunming. The application for a permit is absolutely free of charge.

Upon your arrival in Kunming, you will decide whether you will remain at the airport or you will have a decent sleep in an accommodation. If you prefer to sleep in some of local accommodations, it is highly advisable to book this accommodation in advance and to have a confirmation about this fact.

Basically, this is it.
