Do I need a Chinese transit Visa ?

I have an Indian passport and working in USA with L1 visa.

My onward Itinerary is LAX - Shanghai - Kunming - Kolkata. Shanghai landing time 6:25am and leaving Kunming at 11:15pm.
My return Itinerary Kolkota - Kunming - Shanghai - LAX. Kunming landing time 5:20am and leaving Shanghai at 1:20pm.

Please let me know if I need a transit or any other visa for my travel.

It is 24/72/144 hours visa free transit instead of transit visa. In your case, you are not eligible for it so you need to apply for a Chinese visa in advance.

Hi, the 24 hour visa-free transit allows aliens to have multiple stops in China as long as you leave the country within 24 hours. So will you land in Shanghai and leave Kunming in one day?
