5 days VOA for Hungarian passport holders

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to ask that how much is the Shenzen 5 day VOA for Hungarian passport holders?
I would like to go directly from Hongkong airport to Shenzen airport, and then fly to third country. Do I understand it right that I will need the 5 day VOA, and I cannot utilize the TWOV?

Thank you very much,
Zsolt

Dear Zupan,

Thank you very much for your prompt and detailed answer. My flight arrives at 19:00, so I will take the bus then. I have an onward direct ticket to Chiang Rai at 4:00 am the next day, so it should not be a problem then to get the VOA.

Best regards,
Zsolt

Indeed, you are not allowed to use TWOV when departing from Hong Kong or Macau to Guangdong province with the exception of flying on direct flights from Hong Kong to Guangzhou and from Macau to Jieyang Chaoshan Airport. You will have to rely on a Shenzhen VOA and you can take a ferry from HKIA Skypier to Shenzhen Shekou port where you can obtain a Shenzhen VOA. The price for Hungarian citizens is 168 CNY. Please, keep in mind the opening hours of Shekou terminal VOA office: 9:00 - 13:00 & 14:30 - 17:00.

In case if you arrive before or after the opening hours, you will have to take a route overland, the best by bus to Sheung Shui and from there to Lo Wu / Luohu border crossing by metro/train.

You are allowed to take a flight from Shenzhen airport, but it has to be a direct, nonstop flight to a country different than mainland China.

Exactly. You cannot rely on a direct ferry from HKIA Skypier because the office at Shekou port will be already closed.

So, you are suggested to take the second best option, at least in my opinion:

→ Take airport shuttle bus line A43 to Sheung Shui bus stop: 50 minutes, HKD 30.9
→ Take East Rail Line to Lo Wu / Luohu Port: 15 minutes, HKD 24.8

A bus stop in Sheung Shui is within the absolute walking distance from the East Rail Line station. In reality, they are practically next to each other.

First, you will reach Lo Wu crossing. This is Hong Kong side crossing port. There you will tell them that you will cross to Shenzhen and that you will obtain a Shenzhen VOA at Luohu. After you have done with the formalities at Lo Wu, you will walk some 100 meters to Luohu where you will apply for a Shenzhen VOA. It is advisable that you bring a passport size photo to speed up the process. In reality, the entire application process will not take more than 30 to 45 minutes or even less because you will arrive there relatively late. You will clearly state that you travel to Shenzhen because of your flight from Shenzhen airport to Chiang Rai. You are advised to have a printout of that ticket ready to be presented if asked.

After your Shenzhen visa is granted, you will take a Shenzhen metro Line 1 all the way to Qianhaiwan (Qian Hai Wan) station where you will transfer to Line 11 and continue to Airport station. This station is located underneath the T3 terminal of Shenzhen Bao'an airport from where you will take your Air Asia flight to Chiang Rai.
