About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

USA citizent traveling to Hong Kong

Hi, I am traveling to Hong Kong from NYC, with Shanghai Stop, my stay in Hong Kong will be only for 2 days taking a cruise to vietnam, I want to make sure that I don’t need a visa.

If your itinerary is:

US - Shanghai - Hong Kong - some other countries

You definitely don't need any kind of visa because you will be eligible for 24 or 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai area in relation to the length of your intended stay there. As far as Hong Kong is concerned, you don't need any kind of visa or any kind of visa free scheme because US citizens can access Hong Kong visa free.
