Cruise from Shanghai

We are taking a 7 day cruise from shanghai to japan and back. Do we need a VISA? We are from USA.

Going from Shanghai to Osaka and Tokyo back to Shanghai. 7 day cruise. Thank you.

If you go to Shanghai from US directly and then to Osaka and Tokyo, then enter Shanghai and leave for US, you may enjoy 144h visa-free transit both times for your entry into Shanghai.
