About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hour Visa exemption for Canadian

We fly from Canada to Singapore then we are on a cruise departing Singapore 16 Jan 2020, doing Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam into HONG KONG then to Manila, Philipines, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, back to Japan and ending in Shanghai China on Feb 15. We stay overnight in Shanghai and fly out the following day Feb 16. Do we qualify for a 144 hour visa exemption in Shanghi. Where do we get it from as we are on the cruise then going to a hotel. I noticed on line you can prebook your 144 hour exemption should I do this?

Terri, as you will enter Shanghai from Japan, and will leave for home after the transit in Shanghai, you qualify for the 144h visa-free transit policy in Shanghai. You can get it upon arrival at the port in Shanghai. It's not a must to prebook it online and the online platform doesn't work well.
