144 hours transit free visa in Beijing

I am an American citizen. Planning to fly from California to Beijing and stay 3 nights.
Returning Beijing to Nepal but have 2 hours transit in CAN means returning ticket has PEK TO CAN TO KTM. Returning time if i have few hours transit in China then 144 transit free visa applied or I need to take visa?
Your answer is :-
You need a visa or diffierent flights. Two stops in China automatically limits you to 24 hours visa-free transit.
Now how much does it cost for getting visa? And what do we need?
Your answer is:-
You don't need to pay. It is eligible for 24 hours visa free policy.
Here under are the 4 steps to apply for 24-hour visa-free entry permit:
1. Fill an Arrival/Departure Card at the border inspection counter
2.Get the temporary entry permit stamp or sticker
3. Claim the luggage (if needed)
4. Go through the customs
Now my question is:-
Should i need to take temporary enter permit ? When i enter in Beijing or returning time at CAN? I am still eligible to take 144 hours transit free visa in Beijing?

Raj, your itinerary is:

US - Beijing - Guangzhou - Kathmandu

Right?

You intend to stay for 3 nights in Beijing.

This itinerary is not eligible for any kind of visa free transit because with two consecutive stops within China you are limited to 24 hour visa free transit and in your case, you will exceed the mentioned 24 hours for a large margin.

Because of this fact, you need a Chinese visa obtained in advance. As a US citizens, you are eligible for 10 years, long term, multiple entry tourist (L) visa and this is your best option. Having a 10 year Chinese visa allows you to enjoy any type of actual and future way of travel through China along with the possibility to explore this country without bothering yourself about any kind of formality during the next 10 years. In my opinion, this visa is a great investment for every US citizen that flies from time to time in or through the region of East Asia.
