Can I enter from different country/region during my trip for multiple Visa-Free entries into China?

I'm US citizen planning to fly to Kunming from Los Angeles ( there is a 2hr layover in Pudong) wanting to apply for the 144 hr.Visa Free. From Kunming, I will fly to Hanoi for a few days and then I will fly to Macau for a few days. From Macau, I would like to stop in Shanghai for a few days for a 144 hr Visa Free before I return to US.
Is it possible to do Visa Free in both Kunming and Shanghai this way?
Thanks.
Angela
