About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

what if a third country/region does not require visa? Why is entry permit for third country required

The requirements stated were:
Valid passport
Visa for a third country or region *
A full completed Arrival/Departure Card
An onward ticket with confirmed seat are needed

* - we are from Canada and wish to go on from Beijing to Taiwan and no entry permit is required for Canadians to go to Taiwan. What "entry permit" is this referring to? Do you mean you need an "entry pemrit" only if an entry permit is required for the third country?

Dear, it manes that you need to provide you can enter third country or region without problems. Because you can enjoy free entry to Taiwan, you can print out the free entry information and then show it to the immigration officers. In this case, you can enjoy the free transit in mainland PRC.
