About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

6 day Guangdong visa Shenzhen Airport

If I arrive at 5am at Shenzhen airport would it be possible to obtain the 6 day Guangdong visa? I would then leave from Zhongshan.

And is the ferry to Zhongshan operational?

Many Thanks.

1.I read that here is a ferry from Shenzhen to Zhongshan. Is that so? And is it faster than going to Guzhen by taxi?

2. I understand that I will have to purchase my ferry ticket from Zhongshan to HK for the visa to be issued. Am I not allowed to change that ticket? Ex. depart from Zhongshan a day later or at a different hour?

Yes, you can be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit, but you have to arrive to Shenzhen from a country different than mainland China and Hong Kong, under the assumption that you plan to travel to Hong Kong after your stay in Guangdong province.

Zhongshan ferry operates normally and Zhongshan is an eligible port of exit to Hong Kong. To be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit you will have to book a ferry from Zhongshan to Hong Kong through CKS - Chu Kong Passenger transport company website online, in advance of your entire trip. After your booking, you will receive an e-confirmation that you will have to print out and take this printout with you. This will be your proof for a visa free transit and also you will use it to collect your real paper ticket in Zhongshan ferry terminal. Please, keep in mind that you will have to use exactly that ferry you have bought your tickets for.

1. Yes, there is a ferry (in reality a catamaran) 7 times daily operated by Zhongshan Hongkong Passenger Shipping company departing from Shenzhen Airport Fuyong port throughout the day and the journey takes just 45 minutes. It is, at least in my opinion, the fastest transport option between the two cities at the time being.

2. No, you are not allowed to do that. You really have to use exactly that ferry you have bought your ticket for and that you have declared to the Chinese authorities that you will use for your visa free transit.

The recent practice has shown that the office, in reality a counter, opens for every international inbound flight where there could be passengers traveling on 144 hour visa free transit. In other words, you should be fine and not forced to wait several hours :)

Paul, please, just adopt the correct terminology because it is not a visa, but a visa free (without visa) transit. This is very important to have in mind because the airport staff at your origin airport could confuse 144 hour visa free transit with Shenzhen 5 day VOA. This could be very problematic. So, just use 144 hour visa free transit and you will be perfectly fine.
