About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

72 hour / 144 hour exemption

I travel to Guangzhou,China from London, UK however I have a multi flight reason why I’m unsure of everything. I’ll be in Guangzhou for two nights, then I’m of to Hanoi, Vietnam for 3 nights, then I’m back to China but Qingdao this time for 2 nights also then off to India.

Would I be able to get the exemption visas as I’m entering China twice however both times is for 2 nights and continuing to a different country?

You need a visa if your Qingdao-Delhi flight may have a stop elsewhere in Mainland China. As a British citizen you can get a two-year tourist visa at no additional cost.

Thanks for your response. My flight from Qingdao to Delhi has a stopover in Hong Kong. Would that therefore be considered as mainland China?

Hong Kong counts as a 3rd country for immigration purposes, and not part of mainland China.
