About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hour Visa: USA - Shanghai - Zhuhai - HK - South Korea

Our group (4 Americans and 1 Canadian) have the following itinerary: Incoming: USA (SFO) -> Zhuhai (ZUH) with 18 hour layover in Shanghai (PVG). Outgoing: Hong Kong (HKG) -> South Korea (ICN). Do we quality for the 144 hour visa? Was thinking we could process the visa in Shanghai, during the layover. Thank you.

You cannot get a visa in Shanghai, and you must either change your flights or obtain Chinese visas before departure. You have two consecutive stops in different transit zones in China and this automatically limits you to 24 hours transit without visa. 144 hours does not apply.
