About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

using 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit benefit with the following itinerary

Could you please tell us whether we would have any issues in terms of using 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit benefit with the following itinerary:

1. Budapest - Shanghai (arriving on 25. October 2019.)
2. Shanghai - Taipei (departing to Taipei on 25. October 2019.)
3. Taipei - Shanghai (arriving to Shanghai on 31. October at 4:00 pm)
4. Shanghai - Budapest (departing to Budapest on 6. November 2019. at 11:15 pm).

Also, what would be the consequences in case our flight back to Budapest is delayed 45 minutes or more (since that would make our stay in Shanghai more than 144 hours)?
How long does it usually takes to grant 44-Hour Visa-Free Transit approval?

Thank you!

Igor, your entire itinerary is definitely eligible for visa free transit, of course under the condition that you have mentioned your all stops.

- During your first stop in Shanghai, you will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit because your layover in Shanghai will be less than 24 hours long.
- During your second stop, you will enjoy 144 hour visa free transit.

You are advised to print out your e-tickets and have them with you.

There are no consequences in case of even longer delay. It is only the scheduled time that counts. Delay is not your fault, so you are perfectly within the legal frames regardless of the real time of your plane departure.

The time that you will spend at the counter could vary depending on the part of the day, but usually you can count on 30 to 40 minutes to accomplish all the formalities. Usually not more than that.
