Carla, we have discussed this subject on the thread: "Questions & Answers on China Visa on Arrival". Here, I can just repeat that you are ready to travel and since you have a valid Chinese visa in your passport, you don't have to apply for anything. You will just, if asked, tell to the immigration authorities where you will stay (at your friend's house) and you will also add that you know that you have to register at Public Security Bureau (in reality a police station). They can also ask you to present your financial status and you will just show them some cash that you will have and in the same time you will also present them your debit/credit card and tell that you will mostly rely on it. You will be just fine, trust me and be relaxed :)
