About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I leave the airport to visit The Great Wall of China and come back to fly to another country?

We are coming from London to Beijing at 12:05 on 22.11.2019 and departing from Beijing to Syndey at 01:40am on 23.11.2019. As we have 13 hours of layover we want to apply for the 24hour transit visa exemption and visit The Great Wall of China. Can we do that?

Yes, you can apply for temporary entry permit upon your landing in Beijing. You will approach 24 hour visa free transit counter, fill out the form and because your layover is quite long, your chances to be allowed to exit the airport and make a tour are really very good. Of course, your chances would be even better if you book one of, so called, layover tours. In case if you decide to join a tour and book it in advance, you should bring a confirmation in hard copy. Anyway, you should know that the issuing of temporary entry permit is not a passenger's right, but is considered as a privilege that depends entirely on immigration authorities.
