About:Visa on Arrival

Visa for visit dongguan

Hello, I am a Dutch/Netherlands passport holder and I will arrive in Hong Kong in 2 weeks from now. I then need to go to Dongguan for a business meeting, traveling by train, and travel back to Hong Kong the next day. Can I get a border visa for this?

Unfortunately, a visa that you are talking about, 5 day Shenzhen VOA does not cover the area of Dongguan city. It covers only the area of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.

You can obtain a Chinese visa in Hong Kong, rush service within 2 working days, but you can also use 144 hour visa free transit if you fly from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, travel by train to Dongguan, then travel by train to Shenzhen, from there by ferry to Macau and immediately after you have reached Macau, you can return by ferry (from the same ferry port) to Hong Kong.

These are your two legal options, so you will have to decide which one will you choose.

Of course, probably it would be the easiest option to obtain a Chinese visa while in Netherlands, at CVASC in The Hague. I suggest you to do exactly that.
