About:Hong Kong Visa Policy

Travelling from UK, via Paris, Hong Kong and final destination Dongguan

If I’m a UK citizen, with a valid passport and fly from the UK, change in Paris, arrive in Hong Kong and then transfer to Dongguan and Shenzhen. Do I qualify for the 10 day/240hrs visa free travel.
I have conflicting advice, some people say this is fine, others have mentioned I will need a visa.
This is for a business trip and will be in China for 6 days.

May I know the next country or region after Dongguan and Shenzhen? If it's not HK, then you qualify for the 240h visa-free transit which requires a route like A - Mainland China - B (A and B should be different). Also, to be eligible, you cannot take a train from HK to Mainland China, but a ferry. Also, before you head to the Mainland, you need to have the ticket leaving in hand.
