About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flight and Cruise

Hi - We are thinking about taking a cruise that departs from Shanghai, but we'd want to spend a couple of days in Shanghai first. This is the itinerary:

October 24: Arrive by air in Shanghai.
October 26: Cruise departs Shanghai.
October 28: Cruise arrives in another country (Korea).
October 30: Cruise returns to China, this time to Beijing.
November 1: Cruise departs Beijing, headed to Korea.

We are Canadian nationals. Do we need a visa for this trip? Does the entry by air, departure by cruise (Shanghai), or the return to China so soon (Shanghai, Beijing) complicate things? Thanks!

For your entry to Shanghai, visa is not required. For the entry to Beijing, you will need a visa.
