About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Conflicting answers of China Embassy / Airline / Online information

Hello,

I have sought advice of China Embassy in Prague about 144 hour visa-free access for the following itinerary.

Madrid>Shenzhen on Hainan Airlines, then 4 days after Shenzhen->Paris (also on Hainan Airlines)

Hainan Airlines said on the phone it should be OK for visa free access.. China Embassy in Prague said there is no reasonable need to pass through China on the way from Spain to France so it would not qualify for visa free access, but we should check with Shenzhen airport immigration. I am unable to contact Shenzhen airport.

Any advice here?

Janusz, calling the airline customer service or an embassy about visa free transit subjects is definitely a waste of time and money. They are not familiar with this issues, especially the embassies because they deal with visas only and visa free transit is under the jurisdiction of Chinese immigration, so totally different ministries. The only people that know the answer is the airport staff because they can always take a look at Timatic, the most authoritative source for information of this type and there they will realize that your itinerary IS ELIGIBLE for 144 hour visa free transit in Guangdong province without any doubt. It is important that your flights are non-stop. You will see that you are eligible. Just print out your tickets and have them in hard copy with you. That's it, 100% :)
