About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hour visa free travel with additional stop

Hi there, quick question.

I am looking to travel from Amsterdam to Beijing, utilise the 144 hour transit visa for a short stay and then carry onwards to Phuket. I am looking at flight options and the flight from Beijing to Phuket has a 3 hour transit in Shenzhen. In this case, will I still be entitled to the 144 hour visa free permit?

Thanks!

No. The stop in Shenzhen immediately limits you to 24 hours visa-free transit in China.

Thanks for the quick reply Saul. So if I want to stay for more than 24 hours I would have to look for a direct flight to Phuket, correct?

Correct. A "Non-stop" flight to a third country is needed. Note that some flights in China are technically "direct" but have "hidden" stops even with the same flight number.
