About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

144 hr visa exemption transit Shanghai

We are travelling (with British passports) from the UK - PVG - HKG and, although I’m fairly sure we qualify for the transit free visa, the website we have been directed to to apply for the shanghai visa online (via the gov.uk website) does not give Hong Kong as an option for a destination. I just want to check whether 1. We are actually eligible and 2. Do we need to apply before we go? Thank you!

1. You are eligible if the route is exactly UK-PVG-HKG.
2. You don't need to apply for it before you go.

By the way, maybe you can put in China Hong Kong to see if you can find it in the destination list.
