It's no technical stop in Urumqi.
You'll go through immigration in Urumqi to catch your domestic flight to Guangzhou.
You'll have to clear immigration outbound at Guangzhou.
No visa is needed for this part.
On the return you need a visa for the 6h stop in Urumqi normally BUT as CZ offer this connection, they maybe have some sort of exemption from the 2h rule.
I would definitely call SZ to make it clear.
TIMATIC is maybe wrong in this case.

Indeed, Thomas is right. Your first option with CZ6022 is definitely eligible because it has a layover of exactly 2 hours and that is eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and we have quite a nice number of reports from passengers confirming this option to be eligible.

Anyway, the second itinerary, where you have 6 hour layover and also a change of flight is highly doubtful because formally, Urumqi airport allows only 2 hour layover, but it is quite possible that even longer layovers are now eligible because of recent strong entrance and use of Urumqi as China Southern base and transit point. It is wise to write (email) to China Southern highest levels to know what is the real situation with their longer layovers right now. In case if you do not receive a reliable information within a reasonable time, you are advised to apply for at least for a single entry Chinese transit (G) visa in advance that will be used for your journey back to Europe.
