is mutianyu great wall in beijing?

I will be on a 72 hr transit visa that requires me to stay withonb these three cities Beijing, tianjin and hebei province. Will I be violating that travel restriction if I choose to visit mutianyu?

Yes, to answer your question directly it’s still in the Beijing Municipality (although outside the urban area), so no, you will not be violating the terms of the visa (you will not leave “Beijing” at any point in the trip).
