Opening Hours Clarification about Beijing Summer Palace

For the Open hours it states:
Entrance: 06:30 - 18:00
* Scenic spots are open from 08:30 to 17:00.

What is the difference between entrance and scenic spots?

The scenic spots means the four gardens inside the scenic area: Wenchang Hall, Garden of Virtue and Harmony, Tower of Buddhist Incense and Suzhou Market Street.
