Cruise ship leaving Shanghai

I am taking a cruise from Shanghai on February 15, 2019. I will be flying from Bangkok, Thailand to Shanghai before the cruise and would like to spend 3-4 days in Shanghai before boarding the ship on February 14 and departing on Feb 15 as noted. The next port of call will be Naha, Japan. Would I be eligible for the 144 hour visa free transit?

Is definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai area. This is valid, of course, in case if you don't have any additional landing within mainland China on your route from Bangkok to Shanghai.
