Bought open jaw ticket - eligible for visa exemption?

Hi,

I bought an open jaw ticket (New York to Kuala Lumpur, then Beijing to Toronto). Can I be eligible for visa-free transit?

Passport: Canada
Itinerary: LGA to KUL (Oct 24 one-way), travel within SEA for 2 weeks, Ho Chin Minh to Beijing (Nov 3 one-way), Beijing to Toronto (Nov 4 one-way).

You are not eligible for the visa free transit policy. You should apply for a transit visa in advance.

Ho Chi Minh - Beijing - Toronto is obviously fine for visa-free transit.

Hi Mark's, I've received opposite answers. Do you know why I am not eligible?

Your itinerary is definitely eligible for visa free transit. Marks simply does not belong to the regular contributors, I saw his answer here for the first time, and consequently he lacks the very basics of knowledge of the Chinese visa free transit rules.
