About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Open jaw ticket for PVG & PEk

Hi, I plan to purchase open jaw ticket on Hainan Airlines for the following: SEA-PVG, PEK-SEA. I am hoping to do visa free transit in both PVG & PEK as I will have separate tickets from PVG To Japan to leave China and then another separate ticket from SGN-PEK to return to China to take my return fight back to the US. Would this itinerary qualify for visa free transit in both directions?

This itinerary is definitely eligible for 144 hours visa free transit in both Shanghai and Beijing. Very creative, I admit :)

Thank you. The only concern I foresee if Hanain might not allow me to take the flight given the separate booking AND my return flight is from PEK. Any thoughts?

There should not be a problem if you can produce a printout of your onward ticket. Chinese airlines are usually familiar with this. Immigration also requires you to at least have a confirmed ticket to Japan prior to your departure from SEA.
