About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hour transit visa to Chengdu

Hi
I want to travel UK - Chengdu - Hong Kong - UK.
Can I take advantage of the 144 hour transit visa?
Will Hong Kong qualify as my 3rd country or "Country C"?
Do I need to spend a full 24 hours in Hong Kong?

Thank you in advance for any help that you can give

Of course, you can. Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit because Hong Kong is considered as a third country (country C) for visa free transit purposes. You don't need to spend 24 hours in Hong Kong. In reality, as soon as the wheels of your plane have touched down the runway of HKIA, you are allowed to immediately depart from Hong Kong to UK.
