About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

24h transit visa

Hello, Am I eligible for the 24h transit visa if I fly from Incheon (South Korea) to Shanghai (PVG), pass immigration and do sightseeing in Shanghai for a few hours, then board a flight from Shanghai-Beijing-Rome within 24h of first landing in Shanghai? Thanks

Yes, you are perfectly allowed to do that, but you should just have in mind that an issuing of entry permit depends entirely upon discretion of immigration authorities. In case if you travel on separate tickets, then an entry permit will be definitely granted to you because you will have to collect your luggage and perform new check-in.

By the way, you should use correct terminology because you will be flying using 24 hour visa free transit and not "24h transit visa" and also, you will exit the airport using an entry permit (24 hour free entry permit) and this is also not a visa, but some kind of temporary permit that is issued to the passengers having longer layovers.

In nay case, you will apply for your 24 hour free entry permit upon your landing in Shanghai.
