About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

Does this itinerary qualify as Shanghai visa free?

I have a return ticket to SH from London, with the return 7 days later. Will I be eligible for visa-free transit if a purchased a separate return ticket from SH to Taipei. Basically turning the trip into LHR-PVG-TPE and then TPE-PVG-LHR a few days later?

Yes, both of your legs will be definitely eligible for visa free transit. You should just take care that your flights to and from Shanghai don't have any additional landing of any kind within mainland China.
