Query about transit Visa

Dear Sir/Mam,

I'd like to ask a query about transit Visa.

I have a valid work Visa for Macau and want to travel from Pakistan. There is no direct flight from Islamabad to Macau and it should be gone through other major cities of mainland China. If I go to Macau through Beijing, Shanghai or other big cities of Mainland China, should I need to get a transit visa for mainland China for a stay, not more than 24 hours?

if you go through Beijing or Shanghai with a transit time no more than 24 hours, then you don't need to apply for transit visa.

The airport authorities will allow me to leave the airport and get rest in the hotel, not more than 14 hours?
