Passport validity for visa extension

Hi I am a PhD student in China and my visa expore rne dog August . My question is do I need my passport valid for 6 month when applying for visa extension? Although I have applied for new passport month a go and still waiting for its arrival. A kind response will be appreciated please .

Amir, your passport doesn't have to be valid for more than 6 months.
