About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Are connecting airports important or final destinations?

If I depart from the USA, connect in Switzerland to go to Beijing. Then, when I leave Beijing, I connect in London, on my way back to the USA. Can I use the 144 hr transit in this case?

Connection airports are what count. The country immediately before and after Beijing need to be different countries. Switzerland > Beijing > London is what is considered.
