About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

Manila-Guangzhou-Wuhan-SFO

Hi. I am a Philippine passport holder. I booked a flight from Manila to San Francisco, USA with a connecting flight in Guangzhou and a stopover in Wuhan. I have no plans of getting out of the airport. Do i need a visa? I've been reading mixed answers/reviews from other sites. Thank you.

Yanyan, if the total time you will spend in China does not exceed 24 hours, you won't need a visa.

Thanks for your reply, Natalie. But will they allow me to go out of the transit zone to get my luggage for the connecting flight even without a 24 hr TWOV?

Yes, they will. You just need to apply for a temporary stay permit upon arrival at the airport. Don't worry.
