About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Xiamen

Cruise from Japan to Xiamen to Vietnam to Hong Kong to Taipei

We are Australians. Our cruise goes from Japan to Xiamen to Vietnam to Hong Kong to Taipei and then back to Japan.

Can we use the 144 Visa-Free Transit?

Would cruising to Hong Kong be considered another China port?

Thank you.

In case that the immediate points (ports of call), immediately before and after Xiamen, are in the cities outside of mainland China, like Japan - Xiamen - Vietnam, you are definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai.

Having a stop in Hong Kong is not considered as another Chinese port. It is in reality, but because the immigration policies are separated and autonomous, Hong Kong is not treated as Xiamen, Shanghai and other mainland Chinese ports, but more as the third country. In other words, if your cruise is Japan - Xiamen - Hong Kong, you would be still eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Xiamen.
