About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

is NYC to GuangZhou 4 days then to HK and back to NYC considered as Visa free transit?

hi, my family would like to fly out of NYC to Guangzhou for 4 days then go to HK for a few days then fly back to NYC from HK. Will that be eligible for the 144 hour Visa Free Transit?
Thank you.

The route is eligible, but as you didn’t specify your mode of transportation from Guangzhou to Hong Kong you should be aware of some limitations. By air will not be a problem. But you may not take High Speed Rail. If you take the “slow” train then you need your confirmed rail tickets in your hand when you check in at New York. By the way, this is assuming your flight to Guangzhou is non-stop. If you have any other landing in China you may not be eligible.

Tickets for the slow train from Guangzhou East railway station to Hung Hom railway station in Hong Kong can be purchased on this website. After the booking, you will receive an e-confirmation in your email inbox and you should print it out. You will use this e-confirmation as a proof that you will be really in transit through Guangzhou on your way to Hong Kong. As you will see, your tickets will be sent to the hotel in Guangzhou where you will stay.

By the way, this slow train is not exactly that slow since the entire journey takes just a bit less than 2 hours.
