About:China Visa Application in USA
Can I apply for a tourist Visa before I fix the itinerary and flights/hotels?

Well, if you don't have an invitation letter from China, I think you have to make an itinerary first and book hotels and flights before making the visa. It's because tickets and hotel bookings are required for the application if you don't have an invitation letter. By the way, you can change your itinerary after getting the visa.0
