About:China Visa on Arrival

Can Australian apply for VOA without having any China visa granted in the past?

Hi, I'm currently visiting my Sister in Hong Kong and we have decided to take a day trip to ShenZhen. Since it is a day trip and we plan to take the MTR, I would not have any proof of accommodation and train ticket. Hence I would not be able to apply for VISA beforehand. I have heard conflicting details that I would need to have visa approved before in order to be eligible for VOA. Would I be able to apply for VOA and what are the chances of it being rejected? We are bringing three kids along so I hope that I would not be rejected and have to return to HK.

Thanks in advance!

Janice, as far as I know, Australian passport holders don't have to have a China visa granted in the past in order to apply for the Shenzhen VOA. You can just go there and have a try.

Hi Jannice
I am an Australian (passport) and have entered Shenzhen from Hong Kong (by train to border) a number of times. It is simple. On arrival at Shenzhen station just go to the Visa on Arrival office, fill in the application and pay the required visa fee of US$25.00 (can be paid by credit card). Hand in the application form and Visa on arrival issued to you whilst you wait - usually not more than half an hour.

Good luck
Bill
