About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24hr Transit through Guangzhou

Hello,

I am a Kyrgyzstan citizen flying from Calgary to Bangkok with one layover in Guangzhou, the layover is less than 24 hr. I am traveling by air (China Southern) will I require a Visa?

You will actually fly from some other Canadian city, I suppose Vancouver, because Calgary does not have a direct flight to Guangzhou. In any case, if Guangzhou is your only stop in China and your layover is less than 24 hours, you are eligible for 24 hour visa free transit in Guangzhou. Please, have in mind that this visa free transit scheme does not automatically grants you an entry permit. For entry permit you will have to apply upon your landing in Guangzhou and the issuing of one is entirely upon discretion of immigration authorities.
