Good day,

My husband bad I want to travel to Hainan, arriving at Haikou airport. Both of us are South African citizens, and I have a valid multiple entry 6 month Chinese visa.
Q1 what visa does my husband need?

Q1 - Your husband needs Chinese tourist (L) visa. Unfortunately, South African citizens are not eligible for 30 day visa free access that would allow him to travel visa free with a support from an agency. The good thing is that South African citizens can obtain longer multiple entry visas (up to 5 years of validity), but such a visa has to be asked for at the time of application with the remark that an applicant intends to travel to China on more frequent basis.

Q2 - Yes, you can enter perfectly with your Chinese visa because for all those who have a valid Chinese visa in possession, Hainan is considered to be the same thing as Beijing or Shanghai. In other words, you really don't have to do anything different when traveling to Hainan that you would do for some other Chinese city.
