About:Shanghai Metro Ticket

We have 3 days free in Shanghai and were thinking of getting the 3 day pass

Does this just give us unlimited travel around the city or can we use it for travelling to nearby cities like Hangzhou or Suzhou?
Is the 3 day pass the best option do you think?
