There are usually around 7 slow ride a day from Changsha to Zhangjiajie taking around 4.5 to 6 hours on the way0

Would it be better to take a train from Zhangjiajie back to Changsha and then take a high-speed train to Beijing, or take a slow train from Zhangjiajie to Beijing?0

I would prefer the transfer option in Changsha. The direct one to Beijing takes more than a full day on the way, it is too long. By Changsha, you can reach Beijing in the evening on same day. You may also consider flight.0
