About:China Visa

Flying into China and leaving by cruise ship with 2nd port of call in China then sailing to Japan

Canadian husband and wife are flying into Shanghai Pu Dong airport at 3 pm on Oct 25 and staying overnight in a hotel before joining our cruise ship in Baoshan on Oct 26. Cruise ship departs Baoshan, China at 9 PM, Oct 26 stopping at South Korea then returns to China at 6 am on Oct 30, docking in Tianjin port for 3 days. We travel to Beijing with a cruise tour group on Oct 30 and stay one overnight in a hotel in Beijing for sightseeing and return to the ship the evening of Oct 31, but remain docked there until Nov 01, 6 pm, then leave China for Japan. Do we need a Tourist Visa for our time in China or does the 144-hour Visa-free transit cover this time.

Jim, your itinerary is not qualified for 144h visa exemption transit, and you should apply for double entries transit type.

I thought as much but wanted to be sure before I applied for a Visa.

Thank you for your quick reply.
